birthday eggs

henry turns 4 (!) may 29th and jude turns 2 (!) june 6th. we’re having a pirate celebration on grandmama’s deck, which is about the size of a pirate ship itself.

the menu has yet to be planned, but we do intend to refuse silverware and insist on finger licking. hopefully there will be fruit slushage. ::hint:: i’m also trying to come up with an appropriate pinata — henry is intrigued with the idea.

does anyone know where i can find a pirate flag made of a natural (vs. synthetic) cloth and that is not overly creepy?

i’ve listed some birthday wishes on the linkage page, but thought i’d do so more officially here. it’s nice to have a variety list, rather than a specifics only list, no?

you may also notice that many of the following come from fat brain toys. although their site is crazy to look at (busy, frenetic) and their discounts are often silly (“retail: $29.00; our price: $28.95!”) i’ve only ever had terrific service from this site. i like the idea of a fat brain, too.

About the pirate flag– I know you have absolutely NO TIME to do things like this, but maybe someone else will…. why not make your own? A burlap sack like one for lots of potatoes or a similar scrap of fabric (you could ask at a fabric store– sometimes they give away stuff like that) and stencil something non-scary like this on it: http://www.paracay.com/nauticalbooks/prods/DVR090.html
Those might be very easy to duplicate without having to buy stencils… but I’m a crafty person so I’d enjoy doing something like that…it’s just a thought…

That pirate party sounds oh so fun! I know the boys will have a great time! Enjoy!

after a boring search for the jolly roger out of cotton canvas or something similar i had the same thought. i’m thinking of applique, tho.

and probably not for sunday’s party. hmmm . . . perhaps.

thanks for the cool stencil link! that looks like lots of fun — i wonder if they have it locally . . .?

rachel — that CD looks like lots of fun — i can’t listen to it on amazon, tho. is that my computer — i mean, you listen to it?

i also edited your link so that it wouldn’t make such a long line off of the page. hope you don’t mind. :)

Ha. No, I don’t mind. Someone always has to edit my links. Except on xanga. I figured that one out. :) I couldn’t listen to it either, when I found it, but my husband (finally) hooked up my speakers (we moved in February). And I still can’t listen to it. Must be amazon.
