when henry was one or two i wanted to buy the dvd of Peter Pan but was unable to find it because Disney releases a limited amount and then you can’t find them anywhere. well, you can find them from japanese distributors on ebay — scary!

i was very happy to learn of a remastered “platinum edition” (what does that mean?) of the movie to come in march. ernie took the boys to buy it last night where they also got to choose a collectible figurine at no additional cost (best buy). henry, of course, chose captain hook. the peter pan looked weird, anyway (?). the second disc of special features is fun for the kids and has some interesting factoids about other peter pan storyboards that disney considered. the difference in the old version and the remastered is incredible.
go and buy it!

one of my favorites! i think i shall…
can disney accomplish what barrie couldn’t? i bought the cd and book for noah and he just didn’t get into it.
i’ll watch it though.
Belinda is not allowed to watch Peter Pan. She watched it a few times (we have it), and she became sassy overnight. We would ask her to pick up her toys, come to us, etc., and she would jump up on the couch, put her fists on her hips, jut her chin in the air and scream—NNNNEEEVVVERRR!!!!!! NEVER! Momma don’t like no sass. Although she does ask to see it all the time, so we might let her watch it with the understanding that she is not actually Peter Pan. I never understood Peter Pan when I was growing up. I wanted to grow up. I still want to grow up. My brother watched the Mary Martin TV version EVERY DAY for years. I am not kidding. I just remembered, I was in a Peter Pan play at B—. I was not Peter Pan, but I was a boy. Weird. I should show the photos to Belinda–she would be impressed. So there’s my Peter Pan train of thought.
leigh, that’s hilarious! henry mostly threatens us with his hook and sword for days on end after watching. i think he’d rather be a bad guy. “ooh, they get a free tattoo when they become pirates!” he said yesterday morning.
Free tattoo! Wow!
Oh my gosh, Leigh I was cracking up at your little story…I know this woman who I affectionately refer to (behind her back of course) as Sandy-Duncan-as-Peter-Pan with here pixie cut and semi-pointy ears…there is nothing as immasculating as playing a boy by the way. Kalani has Peter Pan, but he prefers Sword in the Stone…I got lucky and found about 20 classic Disney cartoons at a pawn shop. Fox and the Hound, Robin Hood, Peter Pan, Black Cauldron…good times good times.
By the way immasculate is a coined word meaning “to add strength or vigor to an otherwise feminine creature.”
Wow Brooksi–when I met you, I never thought you’d be”lucky” enough to find 20 disney movies at a pawn shop. Although, I didn’t think we’d be commenting on a blog either. Mostly because I wasn’t even entirely sure what the internet was.
