max sits in my lap, hoping to stay there all night. he is a most wonderful pup.
a hard week of school and living, this has been. ernie is home again. i want to just sit around and be on a vacation again, already. but we’re both working instead, he in his place, me in mine. it’s not as fun to have studios in different rooms. but there is good ice cream waiting for later.
annie and i made this lamp. we covered the chandelier in the dining room with a structure of chicken wire and vintage book pages. it is enormous. the kids like it, annie and i keep thinking of other places to make them, hang them, big dad smiled and said something like, “would you look at that?” and ernie hopes there will be no fire. i like the way the light is diffused, the flickering way the light hits the ceiling, like a campfire that hangs overhead. sometime i will take a picture of the whole room, when the dishes are cleared from the table and there is not a nativity scene waiting long past epiphany on the sideboard. a new chandelier, for six dollars in chicken wire and a one penny book.

Brilliant. I like this Big Daddy man. I like him a lot.
yay! oh how i love thee, hovering wire campfire. I feel warmer already. I love how we had such little idea of what to do and then it came so nicely, the shape, your wire pocket idea, all the tucking and crinkling. I already forget what the original looks like. . .
This is so clever. I’m sure you’re enjoying it.
